How the FlashShield video flash checker works

FlashShield checks uploaded media for rapid luminance changes and other potentially risky flashing patterns before you watch the content.

Check an MP4 for luminance and red flashes

Upload an MP4 to analyze potentially hazardous flashing in anime, gameplay, music videos, or other edited footage. FlashShield uses IRIS analysis to identify luminance and red-flash incidents and shows their timestamps in a scan report.

Reduce flashing and verify the edited video

After reviewing the report, you can request targeted remediation. FlashShield adjusts affected intervals and scans the edited video again. An edited download is published only when that verification receives an exact IRIS Pass.

What this checker cannot promise

A passing scan is a result under the implemented analysis thresholds. It does not certify WCAG compliance or guarantee safety for people with photosensitivity. Targeted edits can also visibly dim or change the color of affected moments.

What scan results mean

A passing result means the uploaded media did not trigger the implemented scan thresholds. A flagged result means FlashShield detected patterns that deserve extra caution before playback.

FlashShield is a protective screening tool, not a medical guarantee. Individual sensitivities vary, so flagged content should always be reviewed carefully.
